Bright and beautiful art benefits scanner appeal

Tuesday Art Group FOF MRI FHN 1 April 2016Thanks to a local Northallerton art group, the Friarage Hospital’s MRI scanner appeal has received a £700 windfall.

The Tuesday Art Group regularly get together at Romanby Womens Institute to practice art.

Their weekly sessions are a social and learning occasion and they support and encourage their love of art and work on producing artwork in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

The amateur artists enjoy demos from artists and help each other in developing their creativity and imagination through their painting.

An exhibition of their artwork with a flora and fauna theme helped to raise this fantastic amount thanks to everyone who attended to view the scenic work. A raffle at the event and donations from the group’s generous members boosted the total.

Tuesday Art Group FOF MRI FHN 2 April 2016Art group chairman, Mrs Paula Robinson from Romanby, said: “We all really enjoyed producing the artwork for our exhibition and everyone worked really hard to produce the lovely art on show.

“We chose the Friarage as it is our local hospital, a cause close to all our hearts and one which we all might need at some time.”

Chairman of the Friends of the Friarage, Dr Upendra Somasundram, said: “The lovely artwork is a pleasure to see and we are very grateful to the group’s members for the generous donation for the scanner appeal.”
