Scanner appeal gets a helping hand from Nurses League

The scanner appeal has received a welcome boost from two special organisations who continue to support the Friarage Hospital and its patients and staff.

FOF nursing league dinner dance Mar 2016A dinner dance organised jointly by The Friends of the Friarage Hospital and The Northallerton League of Nurses has raised a huge £16,100 for the appeal.

Over 180 people attended the successful event at the Golden Lion Hotel in Northallerton. The dance was a sell out and there was a waiting list for tickets it was so popular.

Guests were entertained by Alan Hinkes OBE, and a fundraising raffle and auction of promises helped towards this fantastic amount. Everyone enjoyed the evening and a big thank you to all who came along and joined in the fun and the generous sponsors and many local businesses, organisations and individuals who contributed prizes.

Eva Shuttleworth, president of the Northallerton Nurses League, said: “We all very much enjoyed the dance and we had nurses coming from far and wide to join us.

“We’re delighted to support such a worthwhile campaign, especially for the Friarage as the hospital is a special place and a cause close to our hearts. I am delighted we could play our part in helping to make a MRI scanner at the Friarage a reality for local people.”

Chairman of the Friends, Dr Upendra Somasundram, said: “A MRI scanner for the Friarage will have huge benefits for people living in and around Northallerton. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone for their fantastic support. A special thank you goes to the dedicated Friends volunteers and members of the Nurses League who worked so hard to make it a success.”
