The Friarage Hospital MRI scanner appeal and the cardiac intensive care unit at James Cook have both received a fantastic £545 boost thanks to a popular family fun weekend held in summer at Lingfield Farm in Welbury.
Derek Thompson, 69, was left fighting for his life in January 2013 when he was knocked over and hit by an 800kg bull. He suffered 22 fractured ribs and he was the first person in James Cook to undergo the lifesaving ground-breaking rib-plating operation.
To thank the staff for saving his life with the pioneering surgery, Derek and his family organised the support the farmer family fun weekend at to raise funds for the Friarage and James Cook and to also give the public an insight to the working of a dairy farm.
A big thank you to Derek and his family and everyone who attended the fun day for this fantastic donation which will help future patients.
