The staff wanted to raise funds to help South Tees Hospitals Charity and the Friends of the Friarage Hospital’s ambitious appeal to raise £2m for a MRI scanner to ensure the best equipment and facilities are provided for patients across the Hambleton and Richmondshire area of North Yorkshire.
The physiotherapy department staff are keen to play their part in achieving this and have planned different fundraising activities over the next two months.
They have raised a fantastic £2.200 so far, thanks to their successful coffee morning and cake stall at Northallerton town hall and Tour de physios at Friarage main reception where 15 members of physiotherapy department’s staff cycled over 118 miles on a static bike.
A big thank you to everyone who supported the events and for the generous donations and also to the staff for their hard work and efforts in raising the money.
Staff are also holding a raffle with some fantastic prizes kindly donated by local businesses. The draw will take place on 25 September in the Friarage Hospital physiotherapy department. Tickets are available directly from the physiotherapy department at the hospital or telephone 01609 763046.
Ronan Walsh, specialist physiotherapist, said: “The general public have always generously supported the Friarage Hospital and the physiotherapy service provided in the area and it’s much appreciated.
“We wanted to raise funds for the scanner appeal – which will greatly enhance the facilities provided at the Friarage for our patients – and also to provide additional equipment for the physiotherapy department to enhance the service we provide.”
